Another week, another summer’s day sitting in a cardi and wondering whether I should sink to the abysmal level of putting on socks.
Do you know that right now, on the Arctic circle, it’s 23 degrees? Here’s a pic from the live webcam to prove it.
Twenty-three flippin’ degrees! (Seventy-three for those who still reckon in old money.) Here, it’s a miserable fifteen, and my feet are cold.
To cheer you, I have a sermon on Mark 2:23-3:6 (don’t all crowd at once) and a craft for the start of the chapter. Yes, I know that’s not this week in the Lectionary, but the sermon was for Weds communion which is half a week behind and … oh, you get the idea. Plus, as always, your Lectionary-Linked Liturgy resources. (Try saying that with marshmallows in your mouth!)

Who is this Jesus? Mark 2:23-3:6
Click on the link above for my recent sermon on Jesus’ healing and teaching in Mark 2 and what he’s saying about himself. I’ve given you the Word version so that you can edit as required, and you can add your own names of people to insult. Oh yes, and there’s a cat. And a hollowed-out goat. I’ll leave that there as a teaser. You’ll have to read it to find out more.
(Down) Through the Roof
The start of Mark 2 has the story of the man with four friends who presumably had shares in a roof-repair business.
Here’s a simple origami printable to tell the story – perfect for Messy Church, youth or schools work, or family fun.
Print off the sheet (A4, sorry my American buddies) and follow the instructions to fold it into a house. Colour in the roof and walls, and fill the windows and doors with crowds of people.
Then you can take the man on his mat up the stairs on the back and post him through the roof. Open up the walls and there he is at Jesus’ feet. Then turn over the mat and your happy guy can scamper off, rejoicing.
Click the image to download the printable. See images below for folding.
If you find these resources useful, please consider donating what you would have paid for them in a shop. I give this away for free because I believe God’s kingdom is important, but I still need to pay my bills.
You can click on the logo to Buy Me A Coffee for a one-off or regular donation and I’ll be tickled pink 🙂 Thanks for being part of the team. xx

Confession and Absolution
Sisters and brothers, let us confess our sins to Almighty God,
for we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
Amen. Lord have mercy.
For Christ died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves,
but for him who died and was raised for them.
Amen. Lord have mercy.
Thus if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation.
The old has gone. Behold, everything has become new!
Amen. Thanks be to God!
God, who is rich in mercy, forgive us all our sins,
create us anew and fit us for his kingdom
that we may serve him in this life
and stand before his throne with confidence in the next.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Blessing and Dismissal
May you have confidence in the love and mercy of God.
May you walk by faith, not by sight.
May the love of Christ urges you on.
May you walk by faith, not by sight.
May you be in Christ a new creation.
May you walk by faith, not by sight.
And the blessing …
Go now into this world that is passing away,
take with you the light and life of the world to come,
and make all things new.
In God’s strength, Amen.
