Liturgy for Pentecost

Acts 2:1-21, 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13, John 20:19-23

Confession and Absolution

In the last days, God declares, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Forgive us, good Lord, when we have not called on your name.
Good Lord, forgive us.

Forgive us, good Lord, when we have not been your witnesses to the ends of the earth.
Good Lord, forgive us.

Forgive us, good Lord, when we have not acted as one body, baptized by one Spirit.
Good Lord, forgive us.

Forgive us and strengthen us to live as your Pentecost people,
our hearts aflame and our souls inspired by your living breath,
that we may proclaim to ourselves and to the world that
everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Amen.

Blessing and Dismissal

When you are full of fear, may Jesus stand beside you.
When you are full of doubt, may Jesus stand beside you.
When you are empty, may Jesus stand beside you
and fill you with his living breath,
with his peace,
with his power,
with his joy.
And the blessing of God, Spirit, Father, Son,
be up on you and remain with you
as with our forebears long ago
on this Pentecost day, and for ever,
Amen.

Go in the name of the Father,
sent by the Son, empowered by the Spirit,
to live and love to the glory of God.
Amen.
