But first, the commercial break:

From Becky and Rebecca at The Resources Cupboard:
Like many events being organised this summer, we have not yet received enough bookings to make this event viable. 😞 we understand; times have been tough and we may feel unable to book for a range of reasons but we know that many of you like the sound of this day and may well be intending to come along. We don’t want to cancel and disappoint you!

If you would like to attend, please book your place by 12 noon on Tuesday 6th September, when we will make a final decision.

Our retreat day is your opportunity to come together with other children’s, youth and family leaders and take some time out to pray, rest and reflect, as we welcome Martyn Payne (formally of BRF) to lead our reflections on Psalm 23 at The Stables Christian Centre, Bedfordshire on Friday 9th September.

Places are limited. The cost of the ticket includes all activities, lunch and light refreshments throughout the day; all for just £30.

We would love to explore how we can support you and your church at this time. Please let us know if you’d like a chat by emailing becky@theresourcescupboard.co.uk

Psalm 51:1-10, Luke 15:1-10, 1 Timothy 1:12-17

Confession and Absolution

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love.

According to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love.

For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love.

May the God of all mercy create in you a clean heart,
and put a new and right spirit within me.

For I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God
over one sinner who repents.
And put a new and right spirit within me.

Blessing and Dismissal

May the grace of our Lord overflow for you.
May the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus
fill you more and more.
May the blessing of the King of the ages, immortal, invisible,
be upon you and remain with you
this day and always.

Go in the strength of the only God,
to whom be honour and glory forever and ever.
Amen.
