Isaiah 58, Psalm 103

Holiday time!

Thought you might enjoy this fab sketch (not written by me) from church today.
Lazarus – as you have never seen it before!

And here’s why I’m not around much this week.

Isaiah 58:9b-14, Psalm 103:1-8

Confession and Absolution

This is the fast day I desire, says the Lord:
to free the wrongly imprisoned,
and loose the chains of the innocent.
Lord, forgive us.
Forgive us and help us.

To share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Lord, forgive us.
Forgive us and help us.

To remove the heavy yoke of oppression,
and stop false accusation and slander.
Lord, forgive us.
Forgive us and help us.

Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as noon.
Godliness will lead you forward,
and the Lord will be your rearguard.
Amen, Lord have mercy.

Blessing and Dismissal

May your light break forth like the dawn;
may your healing quickly appear.
May you call, and the Lord answer;
may you cry for help, and he say: Here am I.
Then you will find your joy in the Lord,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

May the Lord, the Lord,
gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding love,
may he bless you and keep you
this day and always.
Amen.
