A December Prayer- Look, See, Pray

A lovely morning… Now evening has fallen, and local homes sparkle with lights and reindeer and trees. Yet wind and rain are moving in and temperatures are dropping. Will there be snow for Christmas? Probably not… but who knows? Will we see the family this time? Will the cards get posted before New Year?

The news Yo-Yo unreels and jumps back- no-one seems in charge down here. Vaccines and nay-sayers vie for space in the screens and airwaves as the weary-of-waiting hope for the best. Politicians squabble and gamble the future. Just as well there IS a God in Heaven! Lord, don’t forget the people of Earth. That “Silent Night” in the little town of Bethlehem was in a simpler time, or so we think. But there were killers and schemers then too, and the good news told by the angels was soon savaged by the ambitious and ruthless.

There will be Spring again. Tomorrow will see God’s constant Love, touching lives and showing the difference between the selfish and the givers.

A crib on the mantel and a Light in the window… Symbols of the moment when Light shone in the darkness.

It still shines.

John 1:1-5 (NLT)
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He existed in the beginning with God.  God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.  The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
