Author: richardthebaptist

Retired, married to Juliet, and a Christian who loves books, writing, music, nature, gardening, and photography. I'm exploring prayer and spirituality, using my photos to reflect on God and how faith fits into real life: and I hope to stimulate and encourage others to meet with Jesus. Health really matters- and you value it most when there is a risk of losing it! I was unexpectedly diagnosed with colonic cancer, and had successful surgery late in 2019. Love the NHS, God bless them). I am still living with a life-changing condition of fibromyalgia and trying to support others with this illness and other "invisible illnesses." Life has been changed but hope burns eternal. Faith has a deep relevance in good times and tough ones, in sickness and in health. God has been good in my life and has been with me in all these varied experiences.

Changing Moods- Look, See, Pray

December 4, 2020

It’s snowy again! Back in the days of the Old Testament, a guy with a long name and big faith wrote a short book. It’s still worth reading. … More Changing Moods- Look, See, Pray

Faith, Hope, Love- Look, See, Pray

November 26, 2020

Before weather forecasting became so technical, people had to rely on their own observations and collected “wisdom.” Even now, the science is not fool-proof: in Britain, the wisest people have a coat or umbrella handy at all times. … More Faith, Hope, Love- Look, See, Pray

Clearing Fog- Look, See, Pray

November 13, 2020

Lapwings floated and circled on the wind, dipping onto the mudbanks. Swans glided, moorhens mutely fussed, and the ducks and geese circled round, like new pilots doing “circuit and bumps” to practice takeoff and landings. … More Clearing Fog- Look, See, Pray

Seek in Silence – Look, See, Pray

November 5, 2020

Footsteps leaving the briefest of tracks Soon gone in gentle water, salt and clean, until another dawn brings us here again seeking in silence for the Holy Voice.

Better or Worse? Look, See Pray

October 29, 2020

Photographing autumn landscapes is a delight, but sometimes the end result doesn’t match the image in our mind. The temptation is then to “cheat” a bit on the computer and process it as really bright and colourful. Does it look better? You decide! … More Better or Worse? Look, See Pray

Mellow Fruitfulness – Look, See, Pray

October 23, 2020

Soon enough, the golden leaves will fall, the mighty oaks will bare their arms defiantly against the coming of winter. For a few weeks, we enjoy what poet John Keats called the “Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.” … More Mellow Fruitfulness – Look, See, Pray

“Do you good!” – Look, See, Pray

October 16, 2020

“It’ll do you good!” is the hearty phrase uttered by the person giving out the delightful treats. I have come to loathe the expression- every time, it meant there was something that someone else expected me to do. … More “Do you good!” – Look, See, Pray

10 Years? – Look, See, Pray

October 8, 2020

In a world where even rocks can be eroded or shattered, the Rock stands secure. My hope is founded in building life on “the Rock that doesn’t roll”… and who, instead, rolled away the Stone from the Tomb and shouted “Resurrection!” to the Universe. … More 10 Years? – Look, See, Pray

Filtered- Look, See, Pray

October 1, 2020

I thought this one was the exception that proved the rule. Pale pinks, lemony cream, hints of darker colour. I hesitate to say “insipid” because it was pleasant enough, in a pastel sort of way. Then I made a discovery.
The light that showed me the subtle shades also concealed something else. When I played around with filtering the light, the end result was different. … More Filtered- Look, See, Pray
