Author: richardthebaptist

Retired, married to Juliet, and a Christian who loves books, writing, music, nature, gardening, and photography. I'm exploring prayer and spirituality, using my photos to reflect on God and how faith fits into real life: and I hope to stimulate and encourage others to meet with Jesus. Health really matters- and you value it most when there is a risk of losing it! I was unexpectedly diagnosed with colonic cancer, and had successful surgery late in 2019. Love the NHS, God bless them). I am still living with a life-changing condition of fibromyalgia and trying to support others with this illness and other "invisible illnesses." Life has been changed but hope burns eternal. Faith has a deep relevance in good times and tough ones, in sickness and in health. God has been good in my life and has been with me in all these varied experiences.

Getting away for a few days was great. Preaching a different church, meeting up with a bit of family and a couple of friends, using National Trust membership to enjoy a bit of culture, heritage, and beauty. Now it has been time to reflect. I didn’t really notice the…

It’s not pretty… Look, See, Pray

August 16, 2019

The rest of us have troubles, illness, lousy weather when we planned a picnic, a dratted colleague who must be directly related to Beelezebub, or a washing machine that stops then floods the kitchen….  Happily, not all at once. … More It’s not pretty… Look, See, Pray

The Storm is over now – Look, See, Pray

Now I’m 64… Look, See, Pray

July 26, 2019

Life is a wonderful gift. I’m thankful for a wonderful wife, a loving (growing) wider family, the amazing friends I have made, places I have lived and visited… I’m thankful to still be here at the ripe old age of 64. … More Now I’m 64… Look, See, Pray

The Giant Leap… Look, See, Pray

July 19, 2019

Great faith and great science often stand together: if they seem opposed, it is only in the same sense that our thumb “opposes” our fingers- so we can better grasp reality. … More The Giant Leap… Look, See, Pray

First things first- Look, See, Pray

July 12, 2019

I’ve been thinking about priorities. The last couple of weeks have found me needing to conserve energies. Dozing off at odd moments isn’t really a problem for a retired man (as long as I don’t burn the dinner or crash the car) because I can “do it tomorrow.” Except some days I can end up not … More First things first- Look, See, Pray

Job Satisfaction! – Look, See, Pray

June 27, 2019

I wonder who had the highest job satisfaction? The cathedral clergy directing the children in worship?  Teachers herding their charges and looking slightly harassed? Or a group of gentlemen of mature years out on a jolly?

My guess is the bees. … More Job Satisfaction! – Look, See, Pray
