Remembrance is coming up soon. My training church has given me the sermon that day (thanks, I think) and I’ll be posting the script shortly. Btt in the meantime, here is  the beautiful (and BAFTA-nominated) short animation, ‘Poppies‘ from CBeebies and a prayer to go with it. You can use the prayer before or afterwards, or there are timings so that you can read it alongside the video, one line each ten seconds, words matched to the images.

 A Prayer for Remembrance.

0:00   Loving God, thank you that you made the world good and beautiful.
0:10 Thank you for flowers and trees.
0:20 Thank you for friends and joy.
0:30 Thank you for freedom and peace.
0:40 But sometimes the world is darker.
0:50 Sometimes we are frightened and we don’t understand.
1:00 Thank you that we can shelter in your love when the world makes us sad.
1:10 Thank you that you welcome everyone into the safety of your love.
1:20 And thank you most of all for your promise.
1:30 You promise that light always wins
1:40 and that your goodness and mercy are with us for ever.
1:50 Thank you, dear God. Amen.
