Storm on the horizon- run for cover? Or look at the bright sunshine and carry on? Your choice!
We could talk about pessimists and optimists; we could accuse each other of being over-cautious or taking unwise chances. It is pretty much guaranteed that sometimes our reaction will be the wrong one. Or the right one. Who knows?
In life, even choices made on the basis of faith involve a risk. There’s a wonderful passage in the prophecy of Zephaniah where the herald of God announces a vital truth: God is on our side. He has chosen to stay with us, give us security, and in fact is thrilled by us! God knows the difference that being chosen can make: and instead of rebuking us, He sings joyfully over us.
Our tendency may be to expect rebuke- perhaps we believe we deserve condemnation (or at least we find it hard to really believe that Love is so powerful and so freely offered).
Storm or sunshine? What are you looking at today since God IS with you?
“The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
