Following the popularity of last week’s liturgy resources, here is another set of Confession and Absolution, Blessing and Dismissal linked with the lectionary readings for Epiphany 2. Of course, you can use them at any time, and you can mix and match to fit the theme of your service. You can use the search boxes at the right, or the menus above to find resources for any Scripture.
Second Sunday after Epiphany
Isaiah 62:1-5, Psalm 36:5-10
Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
and your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like strong mountains,
and your justice like the mighty deep,
but we see injustice and unrighteousness in our world and in ourselves.
Please forgive us, and strengthen us to restore relationships.
For your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
and your faithfulness to the clouds.
How priceless is your love, O God;
your people find refuge in the shadow of your wing,
but we see people with no place to call home and human life valued at naught.
Please forgive our lack of action and spur us to peace making,
For your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
and your faithfulness to the clouds.
With you, O God, is the fountain of life,
and in your light we see light,
but we have walked into darkened paths and rejected your living water.
Please forgive our weaknesses and deliberate faults, and renew us once again,
For your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
and your faithfulness to the clouds.
Amen.
Thus says the Lord:
You shall no more be called Forsaken or Desolate.
But you shall be called My Delight,
for the Lord restores you, revives you,
and rejoices over you as a bridegroom rejoices over a bride.
Receive your new name
through the redeeming work of Christ.
Amen.
~
May God, who calls you by a new name, give you joy in your walk with him.
May God, who holds you as a crown of beauty, make you shine with his radiance.
May God, who rejoices over you, grant you the deep knowledge of his love.
And may the blessing of God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit –
be upon you and all whom you love
this day, tomorrow, and for ever.
Go in peace.
Amen.
