What is The Big Story?
The story is told through poetic prose with daily readings in Exodus and linked passages from elsewhere in the Bible.
Week 1 started in the time before time, and explored our place in creation; Week 2 traced the story of Abraham and his family; and the series will end with the glory of Easter.
Each week’s readings fit on a single side of A5, perfect to slip into a Bible. The readings start on Mondays, so that they can be distributed in church the Sunday before. Click here for a PDF of Week 3 (2 x A5 on A4). PDFs will be published two weeks in advance to allow time for duplication and distribution. See below for all weeks.
You can use the readings daily, or save them up and do them all together at a weekly Bible study group or on a Sunday.
You can add the verses between the shorter readings if you want more Bible, or you can just use the story if you want something quicker. It’s very versatile, and it’s up to you how you use it.
Wee Little Miracles has a gorgeous idea for a Lenten Labyrinth which would work beautifully with the readings. It’s made of sackcloth, which is ideal for this season, and you place a pebble in a pot to count the days through Lent. Make 47 pots if you want to go from Ash Wednesday to Easter Day.
