Almost the last cistus of the season. Beset by cold, rain, and wind the last few buds opened for a short-but-sweet hurrah. It is received with gratitude. All too soon the garden will be bare and resting for winter.
The remnant, the survivors, are an inspiration to the gardener. Spring will come again!
There are seasons and changes in our spiritual life too. It isn’t unusual for us to be “low” during the darker, colder months. We can blame ourselves, and feel guilty, even though it is a known natural physiological and emotional reaction. It’s better to be realistic, share our state of mind with God, and look for the survivors. Our joy will be great- and hope renewed.
"I sought the Lord, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears."
Psalm 34:4
Thank God for survivors.
