OK, I know Palm Sunday isn’t about that sort of palm, but since we all have that sort of palm, why not use them?
Click here [A Handy Guide to Easter] for my handy-dandy guide to telling the Easter story with the help of your hands.
Everyone can join in with the actions – not just the kids! For younger children, use only the heading actions. For older children and adults, have them copy all of the actions. You could challenge them to retell it afterwards.
Great for an all-age service, schools work, yoof and kids, collective worship, or family fun. Why not tell the story around your table this Easter?
Palm Sunday Crosses
In case you missed it, here is my fabulous Easter Son-day Cross craft. You can make the palm strip for Palm Sunday, then fold it into a cross (video instructions included) for Good Friday and add the Son-rise on Easter, if you like.
I’ve used a simpler way of making crosses than the type you buy (with a square in the middle), and you can print off a useful ‘how-to’ guide for folding this simpler type of palm cross by clicking on the picture below. (Took me AGES to draw that. You’re welcome.)
Here is the Palm Sunday Together Apart pack (originally written during lockdown)
Here are the printable Puzzle Pages for Palm Sunday and Holy Week a useful resource if you need to keep little ones engaged, or in a take-home fun pack.
The Reflectionary is free because I believe this stuff is important, but I don’t get paid for the time I spend writing it. So if you find these resources useful, please consider saying ‘thanks’:

Confession and Absolution
O give thanks to the Lord,
for he is good. His steadfast love endures forever.
Lord, you are the source of all goodness.
Forgive us for the times when our words have not been good, but hurtful.
Forgive us for the times when our deeds have not been good, but selfish.
Forgive us for the times when our thoughts have not been good, but unworthy of your child.
Forgive us, Lord, in your great mercy
for you are good. Your steadfast love endures forever.
The Lord forgives all who truly repent.
I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.
This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you.
You are my God, I will extol you.
Blessing and Dismissal
May you rest secure in the steadfast love of the Lord,
May you rejoice in his days,
May you see the Lord’s doing and marvel,
May you know his goodness.
And the blessing …
Go out as those in festal procession,
to tell the goodness of the Lord
to those who will listen and those who will not,
and proclaim with the saints throughout time and eternity,
His steadfast love endures forever!
