A bold title, “Success.” Photographers who attempt “birds in flight” shots will know why this title fits this owl picture. There is so much that could go wrong: focus, too slow shutter speed, bad framing. That’s all separate from the lighting, weather, and actually being in the same place as the bird at the same time!
A confession- this was taken at a conservation project, where the owls flew with some predictability. Nonetheless, a success! Patience, practice, and the correct equipment paid off.
Want to adopt those principles in the area of Christian discipleship or ministry? James, the brother of Jesus, has insightful advice about the difficult simplicity of succeeding:
“…Whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God – the free
life! – even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no
distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will
find delight and affirmation in the action.”
James 1 v25 in the “Message” translation.
