Confession and Absolution

Lord Jesus, you criticised those who lay heavy burdens on the backs of others and lift not a finger to help. We confess that we have been quick to judge others, quick to condemn and slow to forgive.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

You said that the greatest among us would be the servant, but we have grasped after status and looked down on our sisters and brothers.
Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.

You said that those who humble themselves will be exalted, but we have lived with our eyes fixed on this world and not on our eternal home in heaven.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

May God forgive us all our sins,
through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ,
who humbled himself for our sakes, and now is exalted.
And may the Spirit equip us to lead a life worthy of the one
who calls us into his own kingdom and glory.
Amen.

Blessing and Dismissal

May your light and your truth, O God,
may your light and your truth lead us.
May they bring us to your holy hill
to your very dwelling.

May our souls hope in you
when they are disquieted.
May we hope
and find our help in you.

And the blessing of God …

For forth from here with exceeding joy
to live the praise and glory of God.
Amen.
