Advent Resources – Part 1

Yes, I know. You’ve barely done Harvest. Remembrance isn’t for another couple of weeks. But if you are planning a Nativity Play this year, you’ve been looking for scripts since June. (OK, maybe not quite June.)
Whether you need a script for 60 small children, for a boisterous youth group or for a full church with robed choir, I have something for you. Below you’ll find info on all of my Nativity-To-Go series, including the hot-off-the-press latest release, and resources from other authors, including a beautiful Nativity with picture-books and songs!

BTW, I’ve been alerted that postage can be ridiculous for some of my international readers. More than the cost of the book itself! If that’s you or if you’d prefer an e-version when the Kindle isn’t available yet, you can purchase a PDF directly from me. Just drop me a line to fay@fayrowland.co.uk and I’ll get that sent out to you. You can pay via the usual donation links buymeacoffee.com/fayrowland or paypal.me/ANewFayz

Over the next few weeks I’ll be looking at Advent devotionals, so keep a look out for those, and your lectionary-based liturgy resources are at the bottom of the post, as always.
Blessings
Fay xx

(My) Nativity Scripts

Not a Very Silent Night

The newest arrival in the Nativity-to-Go series. Not a Very Silent Night tells the traditional story of the birth of Jesus to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas.
This book includes two versions of the script. The first is a staged Nativity with all the parts played by children. The second is an instant, pop-up Nativity where all the parts are played by the audience. For this version, there are No Rehearsals Needed! (Yay!)
Both scripts include a simple but relevant message that God lives with us in our messiness. This part can be adapted to fit your context and can be spoken by the compere, a member of the cast, a teacher or a minister.
The costumes and props are deliberately simple, and there is no scenery. Not a very Silent Night is perfect for your Crib Service, All-Age Worship, Messy Church or school Nativity play.

Here’s the obligatory unboxing video.

God Is With Us – Everywhere!

Featuring a cool Gabriel, terrified shepherds and three confused scientists, this witty yet poignant rhyming Nativity is perfect for your school or church production.

Ps 65, 2 Cor 9:6-15

Confession and Absolution

Merciful God, we come before you in sorrow for our sins.
O you who hear our prayer,
to you all flesh shall come.

I have not loved you with my whole heart, nor my neighbour as myself.
My sins are strong against me.

I have lived as though this earth were my home, and forgotten my place in heaven.
My sins are strong against me.

I have caused you sorrow by my words and by the works of my hands.
My sins are strong against me.

Merciful God, who forgives all who truly repent.
Grant us your favour and strengthen us to do your will,
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

As God’s forgiven people let us proclaim:
My sins were strong against me,
but you forgave them all.
Hallelujah!

Blessing and Dismissal

May God provide you with every blessing in abundance,
so that by always having enough of everything,
you may share abundantly in every good work.

May you know the surpassing grace of God that he has given you.
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
And the blessing of God …

Go out and glorify God by your obedience to the gospel of Christ
and by the generosity of your sharing with others.
In the name of Christ
Amen.
