It’s bank-holiday weekend as I write this, and I have all my girlies home for the hols. So you will excuse a smaller selection than usual, I’m sure. Also, who am I to be writing about Moses’ meeting with God? (I love God’s answer to that objection of Moses. God doesn’t list Moses’ many qualifications, nor does he promise to equip Moses for the job. He simply says, ‘I will be with you’, as if that’s enough. Which it is.)
A selection of resources for Moses’ facetime with the fire-retardant foliage.
- Burning bush craft (video) but please leave ‘here’ off the sign. God wasn’t playing peek-a-boo!
- Similar craft, but less theologically dodgy
- Other crafts (from The Reflectionary)
- Resources from Scripture Union
- The scene from ‘Prince of Egypt’ (video)
- Reflections from the Methodist Church
- Resources from Sunday School Zone (see pic above, plenty for adults here too)
Liturgy for Proper 17
Confession and Absolution
We come to you, good Lord, in sorrow for our sins.
For where we have failed you,
forgive us, good Lord.
The Apostle Paul wrote: Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
For where we have failed you,
forgive us, good Lord.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves.
For where we have failed you,
forgive us, good Lord.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
For where we have failed you,
forgive us, good Lord.
May the God of all mercy, who forgives all who truly repent,
cleanse us from our sin,
strengthen us to do his will
and guide us in the way of peace.
Amen.
Blessing and Dismissal
May you hear God’s voice calling you the great things.
May you know that you stand on holy ground.
May you see God’s face and know his name
even as you are known.
And the blessing of God almighty …
Amen.
Go in God’s strength to accomplish wonders,
in the name of Christ,
Amen.
