Distilled Sunshine- Look, See, Pray

The no.1 topic of polite conversation in Britain is the weather. Although that may change from day to day- just like our weather!

Weather can upset our plans, ruin our harvest, and give us the blues. It’s too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too windy, too changeable, and generally annoying. Except on the few, rare, perfect days- then we complain about something else instead!

If only we could control our weather… distill sunshine, perhaps.

So I walked into my garden this morning and found it’s already been done! A riotous assembly of rudbeckia is turning Bognor into the savannah. Gloriously yellow, unshakably bold, and cheering to the human spirit. So far today, we’ve had sun, rain, sun, drizzle, rain, and pale grey clouds in abundance.

And the distilled sunshine has lifted my heart every time I take a peek. I’m smiling as I type this. I feel grateful… I feel like worship… I feel joyful. I feel LOVED.

Psalm 100 v1-5

A Psalm for giving thanks. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
