Author: richardthebaptist

Retired, married to Juliet, and a Christian who loves books, writing, music, nature, gardening, and photography. I'm exploring prayer and spirituality, using my photos to reflect on God and how faith fits into real life: and I hope to stimulate and encourage others to meet with Jesus. Health really matters- and you value it most when there is a risk of losing it! I was unexpectedly diagnosed with colonic cancer, and had successful surgery late in 2019. Love the NHS, God bless them). I am still living with a life-changing condition of fibromyalgia and trying to support others with this illness and other "invisible illnesses." Life has been changed but hope burns eternal. Faith has a deep relevance in good times and tough ones, in sickness and in health. God has been good in my life and has been with me in all these varied experiences.

Simply Perfect- Look, See, Pray

December 9, 2021

Taking time to fix my attention of God. Using Bible, prayer, silence, art, photography… these can “prime the pump” but our goal is discover ourselves to be in the PRESENCE of God. Tozer is one of many Christians who has discovered the JOY of gazing on the beauty and Love of God. … More Simply Perfect- Look, See, Pray

Thanks, Mum – Look, See, Pray

December 2, 2021

One part of our understanding of God (that is sometimes neglected) is that we recognise the Lord as Mother too. Isaiah pointed to this: “I will comfort you… as a mother comforts her child.” (Isaiah 66) … More Thanks, Mum – Look, See, Pray

On Guard – Look, See, Pray

November 4, 2021

Knowing who and what to trust isn’t easy. What with unknown animals, conspiracy theorists, Brexit scars, economic fears and climate concerns we all have our hands full. Then, of course, there’s a pandemic still playing merry heck with everything. Unsurprisingly, there is pessimism in the air. … More On Guard – Look, See, Pray

Recorded Light- Look, See, Pray

October 21, 2021

Memories made of recorded light… I re-live the holiday, remember the heat of the sun, stony path, the sound of the rushing mountain torrent taking water back to the distant sea. Glorious… and freshly laid down again in my brain by the repetition. … More Recorded Light- Look, See, Pray

A many-stringed thing! Look, See, Pray

October 14, 2021

I’m one of those people who are quite good at a number of things- but not really expert at them. That’s certainly true musically: having played guitar for years I’m fine if I remember my limitations! … More A many-stringed thing! Look, See, Pray
